Most products are measured by engagement: time in app, sessions per day, daily actives. Optimise those numbers and you inevitably build something a little bit manipulative. We wanted a different scoreboard.
A tool you’re happy to close
Our favourite moment isn’t when you open Kelahit. It’s when you finish a thought, close it, and go make the thing you were writing about. That’s success. A calm tool is one you reach for on purpose and leave without guilt.
We don’t want your day. We want the ten good minutes in it.
Designing the quiet parts
Calm lives in defaults. Muted colour, generous whitespace, animation that informs instead of performs. None of it shows up in a feature list, but all of it shows up in how the app feels at 11pm when you’re tired.
We’re not perfect at it yet. But every release, we try to make Kelahit a little quieter than the last.
